Parking in Dubrovnik: What You Need to Know Before Driving to the Old Town

Parking in Dubrovnik can be challenging, especially if you are planning to visit the Old Town by car. Here is what you need to know before you go.

If you’re visiting Dubrovnik by car, don’t simply enter “Old Town” into your navigation and expect to find a parking space nearby.

A Special Traffic Regulation Zone operates around Dubrovnik’s historic centre to reduce congestion and control traffic near the Old Town.

🚫 You cannot simply stop or park wherever you find a free space near the Old Town.

Pay close attention to road signs and information boards as you approach the centre. Some parking spaces in this area are reserved for residents with a valid permit only (Residents Only / PPK).

Dubrovnik has several parking zones with different prices and conditions. The closer you get to the Old Town, the more important it is to check whether you are actually allowed to park in a particular space.

Always follow the road signs and electronic information boards — traffic and access rules can change depending on the location and season.

☀️ Our tip

During the high season, don’t plan on arriving near the Old Town and “finding something when you get there”. Traffic can be heavy, parking spaces are limited, and special access rules apply.

If your hotel or apartment has parking, it is often much easier to leave your car there and take a Libertas bus to the Old Town.

A few minutes of planning can save you a lot of time, money and unnecessary stress — leaving you more time to enjoy Dubrovnik. 🐾
